EXP2-Week4 Independent Study

1. Five Trailers Movies Use For Exp02:

1. After earth 
This movie presents that after thousands of years ago, human have to live to another planet. After a trip accident, the father and the son forced down on the deserted earth. Its content and background are illusory and out of reality, but the movie scene is as such as true, especially terrain scene gave me the inspiration of my project terrain. Moreover, it captured on camera and angle also help my exp02 video trailer.  


2. Oblivion
The film shows that the future destroyed earth after post-apocalyptic, humans fight for survive. The movie scene is real and science fiction. It also shows the real - time virtual environment. Therefore, the film has a great help for my exp02 environment.


3. 2012
The movie is a doomsday movie that based on the mayan prophecy. In the film of disasters such as earthquake, tsunami, and the land sinking and so on are very real. These are all can learn in my Exp02 assignment.   




4. The Day After Tomorrow
This is an American movie, released in 2004, it  talk about global warming and global cooling and the after related disaster.  In the movie scene, the tsunami and the snowstorm disaster makes most creatures will become extinct, natural beautiful place would disappear. Movie's shooting angle is used properly, and presented the planet scene after the disaster accurately. 
  

5. I Am Legend
The content of this movie is that, after humans were infected by virus, the world become desolate. The ruined buildings, parking lot and street in The film show the theme - The World After People accurately, and also the theme of this movie and the record direction will give me the inspiration of my own project environment and the video.


2. Reflection:
In this weeks lecture, Russell shows the CryEngine Mapping technique to us, and this is really useful to our project materials. The "blend layers" skill could make the double material cross showed one object and make them looks more realistic. Thus, the project could give the people a kind of real virtual environment feeling.

2. Problem in CryEnigne:
The problem that I have is when the RayFire finished the cutting the material ID will change or miss, how to fix this problem is very important in next week.  

3. Reflection:
In this weeks lecture, the movies that about the post-apocalyptic give the inspiration to me. Especially, those realistic 3D scenes. The natural disasters destroyed the city or place that people used to live. Therefore, in this assignment, the building after 100 years will looks like that movies and the material part will be also based on them.

2. Three Sketches of the Barcelona Pavilion

Step One 
In this step the wall and roof of this building become very old but they still stand and do not totally damaged.

Step Two
In this step, the wall damaged half and the roof nearly down, but the whole building is still stand.

Step Three
In this step, the wall and the roof is totally damaged, the steel is out and become very old. the whole building is damaged and just the rooms are left

EXP2-Week2 Independent Study

1. Edit the Texture of the Model In Photoshop (For initial test)





2. Problems
As the last weeks problem, my texture still do not show in right scale in 3ds mas, for now, what I can do is adjust it for feeling and see the result in cryengine frist and go back to edit in 3ds max.


3. Three Chosen Materials
a. Concrete

Concrete is the most important contemporary civil engineering materials.

Concrete has abundant raw materials , low cost, simple production process characteristics, thus increasing the amount of it . Meanwhile concrete also has a high compressive strength, durability, strength grade wide range of features . These features make use of a very wide range , not only to use in a variety of civil engineering , is the shipbuilding , machinery, marine development , geothermal projects, concrete material is also important .

Concrete is a building full of vitality . With the continuous development of the constituent materials of concrete , people growing awareness of composite materials technology . 

Performance requirements for concrete compressive strength is not limited , but based on the strength , based on the more attention the durability of concrete deformation properties of composite indicators of balance and coordination. Concrete requirements of the performance indicators more clearly than before , detailed and specific . 

b. Glass

4. Reflection
This week, I have understood the material and structural importance in the building. First, determine the architectural structure of the building function, and material characteristics of architectural style better manifested. For this, I decided to refer to the material prior to construction and structural features, in my project using concrete, glass and steel.

After  last week's discussion of the three buildings, the house that I decided to chose is the Barcelona Pavilion.

2. Problems
The texture image in the 3ds Max looks good and in right scale, but when export to the CryEngine the size is in wrong scale and it did not show in right format.

Barcelona Pavilion in Germany occupies about 50 meters and a width of 25 meters, consists of three exhibition space, composed of two parts water. The main hall flat rectangular hall with glass and marble partitions, the materials used are steel, glass and marble.

This is a simple, four walls of the house, there is a gable roof. Structure of the house is relatively simple, a total of three, the interior space of the house about 160 square meters. The house has a very simple appearance, but the internal space is complicated. Three rooms are on top of each other and necklaces, each with their own unique characteristics and space. The house is divided into three separate parts, fluctuates between transparent and opaque. House materials used are steel, concrete, glass curtain wall.


4. Reflection
In this week’s lecture, the video showed what experiment 2 should have and this give me some inspiration. In this assignment, the material is the most important thing. so how to study editing material is the major point in Crytiff Photoshop plugin.
